With its now 366 employees, BILA is riding the wave of international industrial automation. The recently published financial statements of BILA Group – of which Dan Palletiser is a part – boasted a collective 60 percent growth in corporate turnover.
Denmark holds a 6th place among the world's automated countries, and a very large extent of this development can be ascribed to the involvement of BILA, domiciled on the Danish island of Mors. This appears from the BILA group's financial statements which document success on all fronts. To date, BILA has been the driving force behind more than 2000 automation solutions in Denmark, Europe and USA. In the course of the most recent 5 years, gross profits and investments in the business have essentially tripled, while the number of employees has more than doubled.
BILA's growth is also owing to its strategic purchase of the palletising business, Dan Palletiser in Slagelse, made in the summer of 2017 – an acquisition to the benefit of both parties. Owing to its successful realisation of customer synergy gain, and for the first time in more than 10 years, the palletising enterprise was enabled to yield a substantial profit.
"The Dan Palletiser Knowhow combines Dan Palletiser's 40 years' experience with the scope of BILA's state-of-the-art technological potential. And this was precisely our intention when, a year ago, we invested in Dan Palletiser. Dan Palletiser contributes with a number of thoroughly tested modular standard elements for palletising, and BILA assists the industrial sector with the optimisation and automation of the entire supply chain by way of robotic solutions. Through Dan Palletiser Knowhow, we can pool our knowledge and are thus in a position to provide our customers with even better advice on optimal investment in automation," CEO of BILA and Dan Palletiser, Jan Bisgaard Sørensen, explains.
Substantial satisfaction with consultancy
The customers are equally pleased with the outstanding consultancy. UK Technical Manager, Ian Harvey, of Lineage Logistics – one of the world's largest warehousing and logistics companies, says:
"Dan Palletiser provided us with a first-class solution. A brilliant and well-constructed high-quality product that was efficiently installed and implemented. Our new solution combines the two pallet loaders, a depalletiser and a palletiser, thus facilitating the repacking of goods between EUR pallets and English pallets. Previously, this was a manual process and also extremely taxing on our employees' backs and necks."
Jan Bisgaard Sørensen further stresses that precisely the close collaboration with customers is contributory to the continued growth – for BILA as for DAN Palletiser:
We have been successful in growing together with our customers and their ambitions for efficient production and healthy working environments, and we accompany the international groups around the world, providing optimisation and service, both abroad and at home.
Ensures healthy projects
Last year, Jan Bisgaard Sørensen became the chief executive officer for another 100 employees, and all the while turnover increased by 60 percent. The increase in staff applied to all 10 BILA business units, and investments are targeted at retaining the collective group at the forefront of technological developments. Even though such growth has meant putting much at stake and heavy investments, this development was not detrimental to the bottom line: After-tax profits for BILA Group equalled DKK 58.2m for the accounting year 1 October 2017 to 30 September 2018.
